Not much is known about this curious photograph other than what's offered in the handwritten caption. Thus we know the what (Halloween masquerade party); the where (Frank Smith's rec room); and the when (October 1938). Unfortunately, no one is identified in the photograph—not even Smith. There was one Frank Smith in the 1938 Bloomington City Directory. A Frank L. Smith lived at 1105 Elmwood Road and owned Smith's Drug Store (“The Rexall Store") at 101 North Main Street in downtown Bloomington.
