Opening in 1979, the Carlock Public Library, formerly known as the Carey E. Burdette Memorial Library, provides the library needs for the White Oak, Kansas, and Dry Grove Townships. What started out in room 110 of the Carlock Grade School has expanded into a Library District due to the generous donation of Audrey Burdette, who donated the Proctor Building for the library.
This collection includes newspaper clippings from the Carlock Chronicles and The Pantagraph. Each clipping covers a point of growth or achievement within the library, as well as special events and announcements. There is a small collection of the Carlock Library timeline, and pamphlet covering the 2016 building project. This collection also contains Friends of Carey E. Burdette Memorial Library meeting minutes, Annual Newsletter “Friendly News” 1993- 2017, and a miscellaneous folder including “Sum and Substance” newsletters and Bulletins.
