Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) was the 16th president of the United States from 1861 until his assassination. Prior to his role in national politics, he was also an Illinois state representative, a congressman from Illinois 7th district, candidate for U.S. Senate and lawyer. His cases as a lawyer took him across the state, including McLean and surrounding counties. He is buried in Springfield, which is also the location of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
This collection includes two boxes of miscellaneous materials connected to Lincoln, mostly, but not exclusively, focused on his connections to Central Illinois. Materials include items from various commemorations and memorials, along with biographies and essays on Lincoln and his legacy.
